Despite the company’s misleading name, Canadian Solar is actually a Chinese solar company that has most of its operations in China. One of the company’s most advanced solar panel manufacturers is their China operations. In 2020 they attracted 18 GW in shipments and they intend to increase this amount by 2020.

On their website, they claim that a study conducted by IHS Markit found them to be the best panel on the market. It was designed in consideration of product quality, financial viability and other key elements that are important for buyers. If the study was truly independent, that would be a huge win for the company.

One of the strengths of Canadian Solar is that it has been listed on the NASDAQ for a long time, which means there’s long term visibility into its finances. This is especially good for the company, since other Chinese manufacturers don’t have this advantage. Only two solar companies have been ranked as “bankable” by Bloomberg in every year starting from 2014: Trina Solar and Canadian Solar.

Many individuals are still hesitant about purchasing Canadian Solar panels because they’re unsure of the company’s quality and cost.
